The BETA of Ecco 2 uses some unique sprites of its own. They never made it to the final for God knows why.

Case One: Dolphin Sprites

The BETA uses the Ecco 1 sprite. The final uses the spectacular 3D sprite.

Case Two: Crabs on Strings


Lets face it. This game has more crabs than your girlfriend and they're twice as annoying. For your entertainment, there they are. The three known breeds of crab-on-a-string and their relative, the equally annoying Barrel Chucking Crab. Thankfully, they never made it to the Final Version, probably becuase they are Liberocci gay.

Case Three: Chocolate Stars, Not the Hot Dog Flavored Water

When the Asterite gets killed by the Queen in the BETA, the Queen uses little stars. In the final, she uses hot-dog things. I think the stars look cooler. Also note that the queen is a different color in the BETA.

Case Four: Beta Sonar

The sonar is different. The most noticeable difference is the final version's can be read. But seriously, the BETA's is green, and not a lot of things show up on it. It is different from Ecco One's and Ecco Two's, so Appaloosa was either persuing a new design, or it is incomplete.
